Dreaming the Dark: hands that see, eyes that touch is a series of 24 x 1 minute films curated and assembled by Media City Grand Prize winner, Ana Vaz (Brazil). In January 2018, Dreaming the Dark will tour museums and cultural spaces around the world. Media City artists including Ute Aurand, Mary Helena Clark, Ben Balcom, Salomé Lamas, Saul Levine, Jeannette Muñoz, Ben Rivers and more have contributed to the project.

“This series of cinematic glimpses look at the principle of seeing that is inherent to the art of cinema as a way to dream beyond the field of vision. Dreaming the Dark: hands that see, eyes that touch invites artists and filmmakers who trust cinema’s capacity to transform the relationships between the body and the camera engaging with both perception and embodiment. Could cinema be an art of embodiment? By what rituals and actions could vision become tactile?
Each invited artist will themselves invite another artist – an invitation generates another invitation. This geometry of the near and far creates an orbit of tactile visions…”
